Someone Gets the Money

I want recap and revisit protests for Walmart employees asking for higher wages. Here's the gist from Yves Smith at Naked Capitalism.

Walmart pretty much gets public assistance because they shove off the costs of paying what-would-be higher wages to their employees, on us. How? You pay them low enough and/or don't give them health insurance. So, instead they live at an income level where they qualify for public assistance. So, you pay that way.

Either way, you're paying for it. And I don't mean that in a derogatory manner; I just don't want anyone out there to think that Walmart's low wages and low prices are a free lunch.
